Our Physical Library Card Description: Unlock a world of resources and experiences with a Lawrence Public Library card.

With this card, Lawrence residents gain access to a multitude of services, including:

  • Item borrowing (books, DVDs, and more!)

  • Hotspot borrowing for internet access

  • Reserving museum passes for cultural exploration

  •

Obtaining a library card is free of charge and available to all citizens. Firstly, they must prove residency in Lawrence, ensuring that the library serves its local community. Secondly, they need to present a valid photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID, school ID, passport, or equivalent. If the ID lacks the current address, additional proof of address, such as a bill, piece of mail, school record, or leasing agreement, is sufficient. For those temporarily residing in Lawrence, or are homeless without a fixed address, a temporary local use card is available. Another option are E-Cards, which gives you digital access to our online resources and LIBBY. These requirements ensure equitable access to the library's resources while maintaining security and accountability in the borrowing process.

Please fill out the following information if your library card is set to expire or has already expired. You'll receive an email confirmation once your account has been updated.

I agree to the following: I will be responsible for all materials checked out on this card, I will follow the regulations of the Lawrence Public Library. I will notify the library if my address changes or if my card is lost.
